Surgical Center Light-Based Treatments

Vbeam Perfecta Pulsed Dye Laser
The Vbeam laser is fast, visibly effective, and comfortable. It is a state of the art laser and is used to treat discoloration, including rosacea, sun spots, age spots, freckles, as well as other vascular and pigmentation abnormalities such as poikiloderma, port wine stains, facial veins, and leg veins. The laser is also proven to treat scars, stretch marks, warts, and psoriasis. Frequently, improvement is clearly visible even after one visit. This treatment is fast,
gentle, and usually has no downtime.

Lumenis IPL
The Lumenis IPL Photorejuvenation solution offers visible improvement for pigmentation, age/sun spots, broken capillaries, and overall skin appearance. The device uses a flash lamp light source with different filters to create the desired treatment effect. This is a fast, gentle treatment that has essentially no downtime.

Lumenis Nd:YAG
The Nd:YAG laser energy is selectively absorbed by the deeper levels of the dermis and allows for treatment of deeper vascular lesions such as Telangiectasia, hemangiomas and leg veins. The laser energy is delivered using long pulses which are converted into heat in the tissue, which impacts the vasculature of the lesions.

Lumenis Q-Switched Nd:YAG
The Q-Switched Nd:YAG device delivers strong bursts of energy at very short intervals that can treat unwanted pigmentation or discoloration, even that which is deeper in the skin. It is also effective at removing tattoos that are blue or black.

ResurFx Non-Ablative Fraxel
The Lumenis ResurFX treatment is a fractional skin rejuvenation treatment where small columns of laser energy can penetrate deep into the skin to stimulate a healing reaction. This reaction causes an increased production of collagen and elastin, resulting in younger, healthier appearing skin. The treatment is also effective for skin blemishes as well as improving scars. As the treatment is non-ablative, the downtime is minimal, with only minor swelling and redness for a few days. Typically a series of 3-5 treatments are performed to achieve optimal results.

CO2RE Ablative Fraxel
The Candela CO2RE fractional carbon dioxide laser is a state of the art ablative fractional skin
rejuvenation device. The laser has multiple settings that allow for the precise ablation of part or
all of the skin’s surface to create the desired result. Additionally, deeper columns of ablation can

be performed to maximally stimulate a healing reaction with new collagen and elastin formation. By having a fractional treatment, where only part of the skin is ablated by the laser, the downtime is significantly reduced to 5-7 days, as compared to the 5-6 weeks of downtime that full ablative resurfacing used to require. Fractional treatments have a lower risk of side effects as well. This machine is state of the art for reducing wrinkling in the skin, improving scars, and correcting blemishes. Although frequently only one treatment is required to obtain a noticeable result, continued improvement can be obtained with a series of treatments.

Photodynamic Therapy
Photodynamic therapy is a light-based treatment of precancerous actinic keratosis. A photo-sensitizing agent is applied to the skin and absorbed. After a period of time, usually one
hour, a light source is applied to the skin, causing free oxygen radicals to be emitted by the
photosensitizer, which kills the abnormal cells. The treatment time is usually 15 minutes. The
amount of redness and swelling after the treatment is variable, is usually mild, but may be significant if there is a lot of sun damage. After treatment, the skin is sensitive to sunlight for 2-3 days.
